Shelby Arment

Year Graduated: 2018

Shelby Arment is a senior graphic design major from Aberdeen, SD. She was interested in computers, technology, and art at a very young age. She grew up around dirt track racing; which is basically moving billboards and design. She came into college undecided but immediately found a love for graphic design after the first class. Shelby’s future plans after graduating from USD are moving back to Aberdeen and continue to pursue graphic design.

Artist Statement

Showtime Racing is a business branding for a dirt track racing team. The business’ branding includes logo, stationary, car wrap, and promotional items. The exploration of branding a dirt track racing team is one that has little history. Most dirt track racing teams may only have a number and name, if that. Dirt track racing includes some interesting components including a car wrap design. With so many types and classes of cars I chose the more dynamically shaped modified. The relationship of a car wrap design from web to print to race car is a tricky relationship. Even though I didn't print the wrap full scale you can still hopefully get a sense of how it would look in real life and full scale. I hope this can bring branding to dirt track racing and dirt track racing to people.
