Abstract
Occupational therapy can provide a vast variety of roles to individuals in the agricultural industry. Although there is a lack of knowledge regarding the topic of occupational therapy in agriculture, there is room for research to be conducted and relationships to be made. The profession’s role in being involved in the agricultural industry is largely unexplored. The purpose of this 14-week capstone project was to advocate and educate on occupational therapy’s role in agriculture. Additionally, this project worked to create a program for individuals involved in agriculture to promote preventative care and lifestyle management. A variety of goals and objectives were achieved through the completion of this project such as in-depth clinical skills in a rural critical access hospital and clinic, education, and program development. Based on the findings of this project, the healthcare profession of occupational therapy may positively impact and address the lives and occupations of individuals of all ages involved in agriculture through a variety of interventions, leading to improved health, prevention, safety, well-being, and quality of life
