Abstract
Physicians and other healthcare workers are extremely likely to experience burnout due to the demanding nature of their jobs, and this has only been magnified in response to the pandemic. Physician burnout can affect patient safety and quality of care. Oncology patients experience this same type of stress everyday and meditation can help both solve this problem. Meditation can have many positive effects on a person's mental and physical health, such as strengthening one's immune system, reducing stress, getting better sleep and managing chronic pain. A body scan is a type of meditation that involves focusing on different parts of the body and relaxing them individually. This method of meditation helps link one's emotions to physical sensations which allows you to deeply investigate your own body through moment by moment experiences. The purpose of this project is to determine the effects of a body scan on a person's stress levels.
