Abstract
Energy Storage materials, like batteries, have a wide range of applications from mobile electronics to electric vehicles, an important component of a battery is the electrolyte solution. The use of lithium salts in solution as electrolytes are the staple of many energy storage systems. Electrolytes are crucial to energy storage systems by promoting the movement of ions from the anode to the cathode to do work. An important quality of these electrolytes is their solubility in organic solvents and how they interact with the solvation shells of the lithium ion. We have looked in how triglyme interacts with ions in solution with common fluorinated salts such as lithium fluoride (LiF) and lithium hexafluorophosphate (LiPF6) in order to improve solubility of lithium salts.
