Abstract
In recent decades virtual environments have become increasingly common and accessible. Due to the breadth of virtual environment applications, ranging from therapy, to education, to recreation, more work is being done to understand the underlying factors that influence the user's interaction with those environments, such as immersion, attention, and stress. With all of this research, little has been done to investigate the effect of personality traits on immersion in virtual spaces. In two experiments game (Skyrim) and environmental characteristics were manipulated to better understand the relation between immersion, presence, and personality characteristics. The results indicate little effect of major personality variables.
